Asphalt Equipment Operator

St John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada Municipal Group of Companies Full time

NRB Construction Limited, part of the Municipal Group of Companies, is seeking a dedicated individual to join their team as an Asphalt Equipment Operator. The successful candidate will be based out of Saint John, New Brunswick, and will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of highways and other paving operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate various equipment such as Rollers, pavers, brooms, skid steers, backhoe, plate tampers, etc. to apply asphalt to highway/construction projects
  • Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor
  • Maintain a clean job site, picking up tools and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards
  • Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Ensure the safety of fellow employees
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • 2 years experience operating various equipment in a construction environment is an asset (broom, roller, paver, spreader, tail-ender and loader etc)
  • Valid driver's license in good standing
  • Willingness to work in a team environment; sometimes long hours are required
  • Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that projects are completed properly
  • Working safely is a condition of employment
