Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Outreach Nurse to join our team. As a Harm Reduction and Substance Use Outreach Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering nursing support and educational activities to communities. Your expertise will help us address the complex issues surrounding harm reduction and substance use.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional nursing support and educational activities to communities
  • Provide nursing programs in relation to mental health and substance use
  • Support the development of nursing practice standards in communities
  • Collaborate with community partners to address harm reduction and substance use concerns

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in registered nursing or bachelor's degree or diploma in psychiatric nursing
  • Additional training and education related to substance use, harm reduction, mental health, and trauma-informed practice
  • Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • Understanding of First Nations cultural principles and protocols
  • Knowledge of health status of populations, inequities in health, the determinants of health and illness, and health promotion strategies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience as a registered nurse (RN) or registered psychiatric nurse (RPN) providing clinical practice support in primary care, community, and/or public health nursing or acute care, ambulatory care, and/or outpatient centers
  • Two (2) years of experience caring for clients with harm reduction and substance use concerns
