Job Title: Registered Early Childhood Educator

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our team at Native Child and Family Services of Toronto. As a key member of our Early Years Programs, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality early learning services to children and families in the Toronto Indigenous Community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engaging early learning programs for children aged 0-12, incorporating the ELECT framework and Indigenous perspectives.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a seamless and supportive learning environment.
  • Deliver literacy and interactive learning activities to support children's transition to school.
  • Plan and implement stimulating activities for infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and school-age children, including field trips and special events.
  • Promote the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual well-being of children in all activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of children's development and interactions, adhering to Ministry standards and NCFST policies.
  • Support children with diverse abilities in their daily routines, play, and interactions.
  • Provide staffing coverage to ensure quality care and maintain effective communication with parents/caregivers.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and colleagues, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
  • Assist with classroom housekeeping and complete general administrative tasks, such as playground inspections and health reports.
  • Ensure compliance with legislated health and safety standards at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and good standing with the college of ECEs.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and willingness to obtain a new one upon hire.
  • Up-to-date immunizations and current Infant/Child CPR and Standard First Aid Certificate.
  • Knowledge of Early Learning Framework, provincial and municipal policies, and the unique dynamics of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and respect for confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to integrating NCFST's Mission and values into practice, service, and relationships.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, maintaining effective communication and working relationships, and demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity, and ability to build strong internal relationships.

NCFST requires all employees, contractors, students, and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, absent of a valid medical exemption or other reasonable consideration pursuant to the Human Rights Code of Ontario.
