Position SummaryUnder the guidance of the Health Services Manager, the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) is tasked with delivering professional nursing care to patients, including those with complex and unpredictable health conditions. Responsibilities encompass independent nursing practices, administering prescribed medical treatments, leading within the healthcare team, and coordinating patient care and discharge processes. The CNS is expected to embody the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the organization.
Experience Requirements- Recent relevant experience is advantageous.
- A satisfactory employment history is essential.
Training Requirements: Participation in a comprehensive Emergency Nursing Orientation program is mandatory, requiring full-time commitment during initial training phases.
Educational QualificationsA graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program is required.
Specialized Training:
- Completion of Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO) Level 1 within two months of hire, with Levels 2 and 3 completed within twelve months.
- Must maintain and provide proof of registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
- Active involvement in professional nursing associations is preferred.
- Current CPR certification at the Healthcare Provider level is required.
- Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC are considered assets.
- Knowledge of:
- Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses.
- Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses.
- Scope of practice as defined in the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Facility policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Nursing care principles relevant to the clinical area.
- Legislative acts related to health information and care.
- Roles and responsibilities within the healthcare team.
- Delegation principles.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Preference for candidates with knowledge of Indigenous languages and customs.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
