Summary

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Electro-Mechanical Technician (EMT) plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our production facility. You will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery, equipment, and the building itself, adhering to safety protocols and time constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair high-speed machinery and manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime.
  • Execute efficient equipment changeovers and production line setups, contributing to seamless transitions between product runs.
  • Adhere to established preventative maintenance schedules and procedures, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues before they escalate.
  • Assemble, install, and overhaul existing and new machinery and equipment, demonstrating expertise in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and program PLCs and PLC-controlled equipment and machinery, leveraging your technical skills to optimize automation processes.
  • Rebuild and fabricate parts as needed, ensuring the availability of essential components for repairs and replacements.
  • Perform building maintenance tasks, upholding a clean and safe work environment for all employees.
  • Adjust, repair, or replace defective electrical parts and components, demonstrating proficiency in electrical troubleshooting and repair techniques.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed work orders and required maintenance logs, ensuring transparency and accountability in maintenance activities.
  • Interpret diagrams, blueprints, schematics, and operation manuals effectively, utilizing your technical knowledge to understand complex systems.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to existing equipment, maintenance procedures, and practices.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Building and Electrical Codes, Environmental Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety etc., ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Electromechanical Technician Diploma (minimum 3-year program) or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the maintenance field, preferably within a food or beverage manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience with PLC programming is essential.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, coupled with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating effective communication and collaboration skills.
