Position Overview

Graham Packaging Canada Limited is seeking a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician to join our team.

The Industrial Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing equipment. This position involves performing maintenance and repairs on various types of machinery and production equipment, as well as installing and troubleshooting electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will be expected to:

  • Interpret blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to determine the appropriate work procedures.
  • Install, align, dismantle, and relocate stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, including pumps, fans, and conveyors, using hand and power tools.
  • Utilize hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and components during installation and repairs.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of machinery to identify irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain various systems, including power transmission and programmable logic controls.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repair or replace defective components as necessary.
  • Operate machine tools to fabricate parts required for maintenance and setup.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning and lubricating machinery.
  • Construct or oversee the construction of machinery foundations.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using appropriate tools and welding equipment.
  • Maintain, repair, and test electrical motors and control systems.
  • Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records.
  • Facilitate Lock-Out / Tag-Out procedures to ensure safety during maintenance activities.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • A Secondary School Graduation Diploma.
  • Industrial mechanic trade certification (433A) is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and time management abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster positive working relationships.
  • The capability to work independently within a structured schedule.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
  • A solid understanding of health and safety regulations within a manufacturing context.
  • All necessary hand tools for performing maintenance and repairs.
