About the Role

The Recreation Programmer is a key member of our team at Stanford Seniors Village, responsible for implementing and evaluating activity programs that meet the holistic needs and interests of our residents. This role requires a collaborative and engaging team player who can develop and maintain professional relationships that support and strengthen our organizational culture and purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain activity programs that promote socialization, physical activity, and cognitive stimulation for residents.
  • Assist residents with daily activities, such as outings, exercises, crafts, and social events.
  • Observe and document changes in residents' behavior and report to supervisors and nurses as needed.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents, family, and staff by following accident prevention procedures and regulations.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of resident activities and progress.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff, community programs, meetings, committees, and educational in-services.
  • Assist with statistical record-keeping using programs such as Activity Pro and Point Click Care.
  • Provide guidance and support to volunteers and assist with their evaluation.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Grade 12 education and a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate program.
  • Previous experience in a senior's-focused environment is an asset.
  • Dementia course and valid First Aid Level 1 Certificate are assets.
  • Serving It Right Certificate and valid Class 4 (Unrestricted) BC Driver's License are required.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
