Role Overview

We are in search of an Application Security Engineering Manager who is enthusiastic about enabling secure application development and deployment. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in both information security and software engineering, along with experience leading diverse engineering teams, including those specializing in security and software development. Proven experience in managing extensive security initiatives across an organization is essential.

Application Security Team

The Application Security team is integral to our Security, Privacy, and Corporate Engineering framework. This team collaborates across Robinhood to ensure the security of our products, services, and processes through various initiatives:

  • Creating secure frameworks to mitigate vulnerabilities at scale
  • Identifying vulnerabilities through comprehensive production scanning
  • Integrating security measures into developer tools and throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Managing vulnerability remediation
  • Overseeing bug bounty programs, including management, triage, engagement, and metrics

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the application security strategy for Robinhood
  • Influence the engineering culture to enhance security maturity
  • Identify and eliminate systemic vulnerabilities within our codebase
  • Mentor and nurture engineering talent
  • Define and implement the overall application security program roadmap
  • Ensure security is maintained throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Evaluate vendor solutions and determine the optimal build versus buy strategy
  • Conduct threat modeling for applications during the design phase

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years in leadership roles within highly technical security teams
  • Experience in developing and executing comprehensive application security initiatives
  • Familiarity with application security practices in contemporary technology stacks and knowledge of industry best practices
  • Ability to cultivate effective working relationships with business partners
  • Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
  • Experience in agile technology environments or fast-paced settings is advantageous
