About the Opportunity:
Sovereign Insurance, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Co-operators, is seeking a skilled Claims Examiner to join our team. As a Claims Examiner, you will play a critical role in overseeing a diverse portfolio of commercial liability and specialty lines claims, including professional liability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate and settle claims within authority level, providing guidance and direction to adjusters, appraisers, and solicitors to ensure timely resolution.
- Review and interpret insurance policy wordings and loss information to ensure accurate claims handling.
- Maintain extensive knowledge of insurance coverage, settlement methods, procedures, investigation techniques, and creative negotiation skills to effectively manage claims.
- Report on reserve losses and expenses within established guidelines.
- Liaise with the underwriting team to ensure accurate risk assessment and submission of relevant information.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5-10 years of claims experience with a focus on complex multi-line claims.
- Previous experience handling commercial property, liability, equipment breakdown, and professional liability claims is required.
- Experience with Guidewire in a paperless claims environment is an asset.
- CIP, FCIP, or working towards designation is required.
