Your Opportunity:
As an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), you will serve as a crucial patient advocate, effectively collaborating with community partners and allied healthcare professionals to guarantee safe and proficient patient care and transportation. Your responsibilities will include the safe operation of emergency vehicles, responding to medical and traumatic emergencies, and managing inter-facility transport requests while adhering to professional standards, medical control protocols, standard operating procedures, policies, and directives. Job Responsibilities:
In your role as a Paramedic, you will evaluate emergency scenes and patients, and may transport ill or injured individuals from emergency sites and/or between healthcare facilities. This will involve operating ambulances or other transportation modes. You will provide treatment to patients by administering medications, advanced life support (ALS) airway adjuncts, and electrical therapy. Additionally, you may lead the ALS crew in delivering clinical care during patient transport or at emergency scenes. You will also assist in ensuring that ambulances or other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles, such as transfer vans, are adequately stocked and equipped.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Advanced Care Paramedic program.
- Active registration with Alberta College of Paramedics (ACP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
- Must possess a valid Class 4 Alberta Operator's Licence with no more than six (6) demerits.
- Completion of the Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (test taken no more than six (6) months prior to the application date).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Applications may be shared with AHS EMS recruitment teams from various communities. The successful candidate must work collaboratively with patients, their families, and members of the healthcare team, consulting with other healthcare providers when necessary. Candidates must be capable of lifting and moving patients and equipment. Flexibility to work days, nights, and evenings with varied hours is essential.
