Position Overview

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance divisions to ensure exceptional standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This role is crucial in delivering quality linen services and maintaining a safe, efficient physical environment, all while adhering to organizational policies and relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all facets of recruitment and performance evaluation for departmental personnel; oversee scheduling and staff development, including the design and implementation of department-specific training programs.
  • Supervise the work of contractors to guarantee compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets; oversee inventory management and procurement of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain comprehensive policy and procedure manuals for the department; actively participate in leadership team initiatives and responsibilities, including committee involvement and reporting duties.
  • Facilitate contract bidding processes in collaboration with consultants, subject to administrative approval.
  • Oversee the quality and quantity of services and products delivered by departmental staff.
  • Manage all aspects of the departmental safety program, including preventive maintenance and equipment repairs.
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of records, statistics, and reports in compliance with organizational policies and applicable legislation.

Required Qualifications

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma is required.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based practices related to housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance is essential.
  • Certification in environmental services from a recognized program is necessary.
  • Experience in managing human and financial resources is advantageous.
  • Background in long-term care settings is a plus.
  • Formal training in building maintenance or possession of an Operator B Certificate is beneficial.
  • Health and safety certification is preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
