Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, negotiate, and price assigned policies to maintain a profitable portfolio within established underwriting authority.
  • Ensure timely data entry of policy information to facilitate efficient transactions.
  • Review and analyze endorsements, renewals, reissues, and cancellations in line with corporate standards.
  • Assess new business for risk profitability by examining exposures and hazards based on underwriting data.
  • Operate within designated Authority Levels.
  • Cultivate and sustain professional relationships with brokers and customers to enhance market understanding and contribute to quality service and risk selection.
  • Conduct visits to brokers as necessary.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive analysis.
  • Collaborate with brokers and customers to support business retention and satisfaction through regular engagement.
  • Investigate risk factors to align with corporate pricing strategies and strengthen relationships.
  • Participate in educating brokers about corporate underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Apply best practices for compliance and operational risk management.
  • Assist in monitoring pricing, risk selection, and data quality performance reviews.
  • Collaborate on special projects and assignments as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in commercial auto underwriting.
  • Proficient understanding of underwriting techniques, guidelines, and risk information sources.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Guidewire, RTM, and Passport is advantageous.
  • CIP designation or progress towards CIP courses is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, dynamic environment.

  • Focused on broker and customer needs, ensuring high-quality service and long-term solutions.
