Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatrist to join our Adult Inpatient team at Homewood Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients with complex mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Care: Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for assigned patients, including medication management and psychotherapeutic interventions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other physicians, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient care and outcomes.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, including admission history, mental status, diagnostic impressions, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Leadership: Provide clinical guidance and support to the program and admitting department, ensuring timely referrals and admissions.
  • Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives to ensure best practice standards of clinical care are implemented and maintained.
  • Team Support: Provide coverage for colleagues during absences and support the team in achieving exceptional patient outcomes.
Requirements
  • Certification: Specialist certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPS) or equivalent body acceptable to the RCPS (C) and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Leadership: Inspire others to be accountable through action, decisions, and/or communication.
  • Communication: Strong ability to create exceptional relationships with clients, patients, and customers.
  • Negotiation: Strong ability to negotiate and influence with proven critical thinking, analysis, and complex problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly developed organizational and time-management skills.
  • Teaching and Research: Teaching and research experience.
  • Patient-Centered Care: Passion for excellent patient-centered and clinical care.
  • Integrated Care: Expertise in fostering integrated care involving both mental health and addictions.
  • Infection Prevention: Demonstrated commitment to infection prevention and control needs of the hospital.
