Role Overview
As an Evaluation and Program Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the Assurance Review and Administrative Penalties programs that provide support to Alberta’s safety codes system. Working collaboratively in a team environment, you will help strengthen the evaluation process to provide oversight, encourage compliance, and promote continuous improvement among safety system partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Assurance Review Program by conducting organizational reviews of safety codes system partners. Engage with stakeholders to gather and analyze information, assess performance, and identify areas of strength and opportunities for improvement.
- Contribute to the Administrative Penalties Program by reviewing submissions, coordinating the penalty review process, responding to stakeholder inquiries, and ensuring program integrity and transparency.
- Evaluate and enhance processes that contribute to a safer built environment across Alberta, ensuring alignment with the objectives of the Safety Codes Act.
- Support policy and process development by collaborating with subject matter experts to design, implement, and improve operational tools, materials, and business processes.
- Prepare briefings, reports, and recommendations to inform decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives within the safety codes system.

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets
- Experience applying and enhancing evaluation and review methodologies, principles, and best practices.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills to interpret quantitative and qualitative data, and develop recommendations to improve programs.
- Knowledge of Alberta’s Safety Codes System and the general application of the Safety Codes Act and regulations.
- Understanding of privacy legislation and records management policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and find effective solutions.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Adobe software.
