Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for cleaning and maintaining industrial facilities, equipment, production areas, offices, and outdoor spaces. You will oversee a team of maintenance workers, ensuring the quality and safety of the tasks performed and a clean work environment that complies with health and safety standards. Additionally, you will occasionally replace the foreman of the Electrical or Mechanical Departments, supervising a broader range of maintenance tasks. You will also define, adjust, and supervise cleaning plans according to seasonal needs and production activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversee the daily cleaning of production areas, offices, equipment, and outdoor areas, ensuring they are clean and safe.
2. Manage inventory of cleaning products and equipment and ensure proper use.
3. Supervise the housekeeping team, ensuring ongoing training and compliance with health and safety standards.
4. Establish and adjust worker cleaning schedules, based on production needs, seasons, and periods of high or low activity.
5. Determine staffing requirements for the different seasons and adjust staffing levels to meet operational needs.
6. Plan and coordinate cleaning tasks according to production schedules and operational needs.
7. Ensure the application of safety procedures, particularly when using chemical products or specialized cleaning equipment.
8. Evaluate and improve cleaning and maintenance procedures, proposing optimization solutions.
9. Actively participate in risk assessment and the improvement of workplace safety practices to ensure a safe environment.
10. Communicate clearly with other departments to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with operational needs and deadlines.
11. Monitor the condition of cleaning equipment and schedule regular maintenance.
12. Ensure that budgets are adhered to and track expenses related to the maintenance and management of material resources.
13. Replace, if necessary, the foremen of the Electrical or Mechanical Departments to ensure continuity of maintenance activities, taking charge of the management and coordination of the tasks of these departments, particularly the supervision of teams and the follow‑up of repairs and urgent maintenance.
14. Manage, in the event of replacement, emergencies and coordinate with other departments to maintain productivity and meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Diploma in Maintenance Services Management, Industrial Hygiene, or experience in a relevant field.
2. Experience in industrial cleaning, with a good knowledge of cleaning techniques specific to industrial environments.
3. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in maintenance team management or a similar role.
4. Knowledge of industrial security and hygiene standards, as well as the products and equipment used in maintenance.
5. Experience in a unionized work environment is an asset.
6. Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
7. Familiarity with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is an asset.
8. Successful completion of the investigation and security clearance process required by the federal government's Contract Security Program.
