The Construction Assistant Site Superintendent will coordinate and complete production tasks according to predetermined priorities and plans, providing leadership support serving as a liaison between the crew and Superintendent, assisting in creating construction schedules, enforcing quality standards, monitoring project performance, managing project expenditures and maintaining a safe work environment. Your duties and responsibilities will include the following:
1. Assist in creating daily, weekly, and monthly construction schedules to meet project completion timelines and labor budget parameters.
2. Provide leadership support and support the supervision and coordination of day-to-day activities of the crew.
3. Assist in hiring, training, and assigning employees, crew, and subcontractors, providing coaching, counseling, and discipline if necessary to achieve high performance and quality.
4. Assist in monitoring and managing employees, crew, and subcontractors' performance, communicating job expectations, evaluating job contributions, and recommending compensation actions, adhering to policies and procedures.
5. Support the enforcement of best building practices by conducting daily inspections to maintain construction quality standards, resolving design problems, and implementing change orders.
6. Contribute to providing construction information for strategic plans and reviews.
7. Assist in implementing production, productivity, and customer-service standards.
8. Assist in resolving problems and identifying construction management system improvements.
9. Assist in monitoring project expenditures and identifying variances for labor, equipment, and materials.
10. Implement corrective actions, under supervision, to meet construction budget.
11. Assist in preventing fines and interruptions by enforcing codes and regulations.
12. Support the maintenance of a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
13. Follow standards and procedures and comply with legal regulations.
14. Assist in resolving work challenges and recommending measures to improve productivity and quality.
15. Contribute to enhancing the organization's reputation by accomplishing new requests and exploring opportunities to add value.
16. Support the growth and development of company culture and professionally represent Northland Properties.
17. Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
1. 2+ years of experience in similar roles.
2. Knowledge and expertise in concrete work, forming, and all trade activities.
3. Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and construction documentation.
4. Familiarity with construction codes, regulations, and industry standards.
5. Understanding of all safety procedures, hazard recognition, and proactive risk mitigation to ensure health & safety standards.
6. Experience in project cost estimation and budget management.
7. Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices in construction.
8. Ability to track record of successful project delivery, client satisfaction, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
9. Experience conducting and facilitating safety training programs.
10. Problem-solving ability and proficiency in creating cost-effective solutions.
Physical Requirements:
1. Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures.
2. Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms.
3. Must be able to climb scaffoldings.
