General Scope
Reporting to the Exploration Manager, the Senior Geologist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the surface exploration program at the Minot Mine. The Selkirk Copper team will focus on the strategic conversion of Inferred to Indicated and Measured resources while creating an exploration target pipeline both near mine and across the regional land package. The Senior Geologist role will be an integral part in building the mineralizing model and advancing the geological understanding of the Minto Copper Belt. The 2025–2026 exploration programs will involve a minimum of 4 drill rigs focused on expansion and infill drilling, working toward a feasibility study targeted for completion in early 2027.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
On Site Project Supervision
o Coordinate and execute the surface exploration programs,
o Supervise all surface exploration work, including drilling, geochemical sampling, geophysical surveys, mapping, and other projects as required
o Lead and oversee daily activities at the core shack including logging, sampling, and managing workflows for core processing
o Supervise all contractors on site (drilling crew, heavy equipment operators, geological team etc.), upholding high standards of safety and productivity
o Liaise with site management to maintain smooth operations and supply of site services
o Monitor geological data quality on an ongoing basis. Ensure QAQC programs follow industry best practices and that data quality is of the highest standard
o Report on daily and weekly exploration activities
Geological Expertise and Project Advancement
o Participate in the planning of drilling, geochemical and geophysical programs.
o Participate in the building and refinement of deposit-scale geological models.
- Communicate new findings and recommendations to the geology team, facilitating discussion and continuous improvement in data collection.
- Provide relevant geological information to other technical disciplines (mining, infrastructure, environment, metallurgy) and offer support as required.
- Plan drill hole locations and expected deviations for drill hole traces to effectively test the mineralization and exploration targets as directed.
- Integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets, along with regional structural information, to inform a comprehensive geological understanding.
- Participate in innovation projects or project evaluations.
o Assist with daily, monthly, and annual reporting requirements, summarizing key exploration activities. Report on target generation and prioritization and provide recommendations for follow-up work.
Safety and Environmental Stewardship:
o Promote the company’s commitment to sustainability, the environment, health, and safety.
o Lead by example, demonstrating honesty, sincerity and openness to feedback
- Ensure safety is given highest priority and document/report any related safety incidents and infractions in the appropriate manner.
o Understand and ensure compliance with Selkirk Copper’s safety policies and applicable Yukon safety regulations. Implement all necessary safety programs and lead daily and weekly safety meetings.
Team Leadership:
o Be a leader and role model for healthy & safety, environmental and community relations initiatives, supporting policies and procedures, including reviewing, revising, and generating relevant SOP’s and JHA’s
o Coach and assist in the development of geologists within the team
o In collaboration with the Management, ensure technical coaching for professional development purposes and proactive mentorship of all staff
o Supervise staff and contractors to ensure quality and safety standards are met
- Seeks ways to continuously improve operations and team collaboration by refining practices, eliminating barriers, taking action to improve processes, and mitigating problems that interrupt production
- Set goals and prioritize tasks to achieve department objectives
Geological Modelling and Understanding
- Contribute to geological modelling as guided by Resource Geologist
- Integrate geological, geochemical, and geophysical datasets, along with regional structural information, to inform a comprehensive geological understanding.
Schedule and Travel Expectations
· Schedule: Two-week rotation at Site rotation during drill program with supplemental work from home.
· Workplace: Combination of at Minto Mine Site, Vancouver office and remotely.
· Travel: Regular travel to the Minto Mine site and the Vancouver office is expected,
Minimum Qualifications and Skill Requirements
· A minimum of 8+ years of industry experience and a post-secondary degree in geoscience or engineering is required
· Working knowledge and technical competence with major ore deposit types in the western Cordillera region
· High degree of initiative, self-motivation, accountability, and independent judgment
· Advanced written and oral English language is required
· Experience in drillcore sampling techniques, QAQC analysis, and commitment to data integrity
· Proven experience in 3D modeling is considered an asset;
· Proven competency in Leapfrog, GIS and Microsoft Software suite.
· Strong database management and QAQC experience.
· Critical and conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated commitment to safety, community, and the environment
· Knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements and procedures
· Cross-cultural awareness with an understanding and sensitivity on differences in cultural and economic backgrounds
· Environmental awareness with a commitment to minimizing the impacts of exploration work
· Ability to travel within the region as required
· Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills and experience working with a broad range of people
· Results-oriented thinking with excellent organizational, planning, program management and decision-making skills

· The ability to work at a remote location on a 2 week on/ 2 week off rotation, and maintain high levels of performance over 12-hour shifts
· Ability to work in the field, in potentially rugged terrain and areas frequented by wild animals
· Registered or ability to register as a Professional Geologist in a Canadian jurisdiction
