The Day Camp Inclusion Leader plays a vital role in assisting the delivery and supervision of recreation and Day Camp programs, ensuring compliance with HIGH FIVE standards, Health and Safety Regulations, and Municipal Policies.

$18.15 to $19.70 per hour
May to August
Qualifications:- Currently enrolled in or completed education in a related field (Social Services, Child and Youth Worker, Nursing, Personal Support Worker, Teacher)
- Standard First Aid, CPR "C" with AED or willing to obtain
- Experience working with children and youth with special needs
- Previous volunteer and/or experience in a camp or similar setting
- HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development or willing to obtain
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention preferred
- Valid and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check
- Able to commit to the full term of employment and be available Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
- Assist in developing, promoting, and delivering programs for participants with special needs
- Prepare and implement staff training on program adaptation, integration, and behaviour management strategies
- Interact with participants in a positive and professional manner, incorporating HIGH FIVE principles and addressing special needs
- Role model enthusiasm and active supervision, creating an inclusive environment
- Provide feedback to camp staff and Recreation Program Coordinator on program and participant integration
- Minimize inappropriate behaviour using learned techniques and acquired skills
- Develop individualized tools and management strategies for identified program participants
- Evaluate and assess participant needs to ensure necessary program adaptations and modifications
- Provide assistance and interact with participants to ensure safety, integration, and participation
- Comply with Child Guidance and Child Abuse Policies as outlined at staff training
- Assist other staff leading programs and guide and supervise Volunteers
- Assist Senior Team Leader and Recreation Program Coordinator with evaluating staff and volunteers
- Serve as liaison between parent, child, Summer Day Camp staff, and Recreation Program Coordinator
- Advise Senior Team Leader and/or Recreation Program Coordinator of any problems related to equipment, programs, or public inquiries
- Resolve operational conflicts swiftly and professionally
- Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and understand personal actions impact the public's perception of the Municipality
