Compensation and Work Term

$17.45 to $18.94 per hour
June to August

Qualifications
  • High school diploma preferred, however high school students will be considered based on maturity, skills and experience.
  • Standard First Aid, CPR “C” with AED or willing to obtain.
  • Experience working with children and youth.
  • HIGH FIVE : Principles of Healthy Child Development or willing to obtain.
  • Valid and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Able to commit to the full term of employment and be available Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
  • Work in collaboration with all camp staff to plan, organize and implement camp programs and supervision of all activities.
  • Act as a leader within camp, accountable to the Senior Team Lead for all activities; ensuring the safety and participation of children.
  • Interact with the Camp participants in a positive and professional manner in the delivery of the program; incorporate the principles of HIGH FIVE regarding healthy child development.
  • Comply with the Child Care Legislation and Child Abuse Policies as outlined at staff training.
  • Advise the Senior Team Lead and/or Recreation Program Coordinator of any problems related to equipment, programs or public inquiries and report any unacceptable behaviour to the Recreation Program Coordinator and/or inclusion Staff or Senior Team Lead.
  • Adhere to high standards of ethical behaviour and understand that personal actions impact the public’s perception of the Municipality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Team Lead and/or Recreation Program Coordinator or designate.
