Job Title: General Superintendent

Location: GTA & Surrounding area Experience Required: Minimum 5 years Industry: Retaining Walls, Shoring, Deep Foundations, Fencing/Noise Barrier

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on General Superintendent to oversee field operations for retaining wall, shoring, and fencing/noise barrier projects. The ideal candidate will be a motivated leader with strong technical skills in layout, surveying, and grade/elevation calculations, along with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings. This individual will ensure that crews work safely, efficiently, and with attention to detail while maintaining high-quality workmanship across all projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and coordinate field crews on multiple active job sites.
- Perform layout and surveying, including accurate grade and elevation calculations.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Work hands-on when required to assist and support field crews.
- Ensure all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards/policies and project specifications.
- Monitor and maintain project schedules and productivity goals.
- Enforce and promote good housekeeping and site organization.
- Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Train, mentor, and develop field personnel to build a skilled and safety-conscious workforce.
- Communicate effectively with operations manager, project managers, site coordinators, safety officers and clients regarding progress and field conditions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve on-site issues to minimize delays and ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in retaining wall, shoring, deep foundations or fencing/noise barrier construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction layout, surveying principles, and grade/elevation calculations.
- Proven ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to motivate field teams.
- Hands-on attitude and willingness to assist crews as needed.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency on all projects.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various job sites as required.

Work Conditions

- 7am – 5pm availability will be required weekdays
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lb
- Travel to off-site locations (outside GTA) may be required
- Safety equipment will be provided, e.g. steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
- Hazards associated with the trade
- Work both indoors and outdoors
- Will be exposed to construction sites

Weekly pay

Premium Pay on occasional night shifts

Discretionary Christmas bonus

Health spending account $1000 annually in addition to group benefits

Truck and Gas card provided by the company

Groundbreaking aims to fill this position promptly. The selection process will include a phone interview with Human Resources, followed by one or two in-person interviews with the Management team before a final candidate is chosen.
