Senior Underwriter – Renewable Energy

We’re looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Renewable Energy team

What you’ll do here:

- Accept, reject, endorse, renew or cancel policies following Intact underwriting guidelines and procedures, applicable laws and regulations and subject to authority level as specified by underwriting manager.
- Develop business opportunities and long‑term meaningful relationships with our broker partners by providing legendary service.
- Use negotiating skills to maintain healthy relationships within and outside the company.
- Answer inquiries and make recommendations to brokers and underwriters through verbal and written correspondence.
- Participate in broker visits, industry functions and marketing events in support of broker relationship development.
- Review underwriting reports and make recommendations as required.
- Communicate changes related to product pricing, underwriting guidelines and new products.
- Support and mentor team members within Specialty Solutions as well as other divisions at Intact.

What you bring to the table:

- Post‑secondary education or any combination of equivalent education and experience
- Minimum 5 years underwriting experience in Specialty Lines or mid‑to large market in Commercial Lines, and 1‑2 years in energy underwriting.
- Experience in renewable energy underwriting is an asset.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrates initiative, the ability to work under pressure, and are flexible to change.
- Strong analytical, negotiating skills and business savvy.
- Can develop and maintain excellent relationships with brokers.
- Can make decisions in time‑sensitive situations, address complex problems, provide recommended course of action and take calculated risks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products with an intermediate Excel proficiency.
- No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
- For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English‑speaking colleagues across the country.
