Tax Specialist (Cross-Border) - Remote

Job description

Our client is a leading Accounting, Tax and Advisory firm with a strong regional and global reach. They are currently in search of a highly experienced Tax Specialist (cross-border) to join their team in Toronto.

Your new role

In this new role, you will be involved in a variety of tax files and tax planning engagements assisting clients with various tax matters, providing research and technical support, identifying and handling issues on files. As a Tax Specialist (Cross Border), you will prepare a variety of US tax returns and provide technical support to and communicate with team members and clients. Responsibilities include:

1. Prepare US personal and corporate tax returns, many of which are complex.
2. Prepare more simple Canadian personal tax returns.
3. Perform tax law research and document conclusions.
4. Analyze tax law changes, rulings, and opinions for impact on clients.
5. Compile necessary facts, analyze viable options, prepare documentation, and present conclusions in a complete, accurate, organized, and professional manner for internal and external client use.

What you will need to succeed

To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum of 0-3 years in US tax in public accounting under the supervision of a US licensed CPA. Strong English communication skills both verbal and written are required. Fluency in Mandarin, Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, or Hebrew is helpful but not necessary. You should possess excellent Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) skills. You can work well under pressure, manage priorities, and meet deadlines. You will also have strong teamwork skills, be trustworthy, accountable, proactive, and have a positive work attitude. Excellent organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail are essential. You should be energetic, highly motivated, with a desire to learn.
