We’re actively searching for a Senior Safety Specialist, reporting to the Safety Superintendent, this role provides health and safety leadership across the operation and supports the continuous improvement of safety performance, regulatory compliance, critical risk management, and incident prevention programs. This role supports IMG’s purpose by building trusted, respectful relationships with communities and stakeholders. Through proactive engagement, transparent communication, and culturally aware practices, it helps enable sustainable operations and long-term shared value for communities and the organization.

Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership
- Provide professional health and safety guidance to operational and project teams.
- Support in the identification assessment and control of workplace hazards.
- Promote a strong safety culture through coaching, mentoring, and field engagement.
- Lead and participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
- Apply digital safety management systems and reporting tools to support decision-making and operational performance. Contractor Management
- Oversee the Contractor Management Program and contractor safety performance.
- Ensure contractors comply with site health and safety requirements, standards, and applicable legislation.
- Support contractor onboarding, risk management, and compliance verification activities.
- Participate in contractor safety reviews, audits, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Maintain contractor compliance records and performance metrics using applicable software platforms and databases.
- Support implementation and verification of Critical Risk Management (CRM) controls.
- Facilitate risk assessments and reviews for routine and non-routine work activities.
- Provide technical guidance on high-risk work, including working at heights, energy isolation, mobile equipment, and confined space activities.
- Support Management of Change (MOC) processes from a safety perspective.
- Use electronic risk management and data analysis tools to identify trends and support risk reduction strategies.
- Participate in incident investigations and Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM) processes.
- Monitor corrective actions to ensure timely completion and effectiveness.
- Identify trends and recommend preventative measures to reduce risk and improve performance.
- Develop and communicate safety learnings following incidents and significant events.
- Utilize incident management software and reporting systems to track investigations, corrective actions, and performance metrics. Compliance & Assurance
- Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, standards, and company requirements.
- Maintain the health and safety management system.
- Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and verification activities.
- Support regulatory inspections and interactions with government agencies.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of health and safety programs and standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation using digital management systems and Microsoft Office applications. Safety Performance & Improvement
- Analyze safety performance data and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support the development of safety objectives, KPIs, and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare reports and recommendations
