Senior Electrical Designer

To meet our growth challenges, WSP is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Designer to join our team located in our Etobicoke office.
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this position will be responsible for providing design, drafting, and modelling capabilities to the Resources team. You will apply your electrical design knowledge on project work from conceptual design through completion. Technical quality, cost effectiveness, building and maintaining client relationships, and providing guidance to a team of designers are integral parts of this role. Require an experienced person to work with minor supervision, from conceptual studies to final designs certified for construction. Must be able to organize workload and meet agreed schedules.

What you can expect to do here:
- Lead and design electrical power distribution systems, fire-detection/alarm systems, industrial control systems, building lighting and associated control systems;
- Produce detailed drawings and specifications (AutoCAD, AutoCAD 3D, Revit);
- Perform engineering calculations;
- Coordinate with various departments and disciplines required for project implementation;
- Conduct Industrial and Commercial site reviews;
- Prepare engineering reports;
- Attend industrial sites and observe all applicable safety regulations;
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Minimum College Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
- At least 10+ years of relevant experience working on electrical design projects within one or more of the following industries: food and beverage, chemical, steel, cement, oil and gas, mining.
- Must have recent engineering consulting experience.
- Must have experience with AutoCAD and MicroStation - Revit an asset.
- Must have 3D expertise.
- Experience with high voltage substation plan and profile drafting, Civil3D, Revit are an advantage.
- Must be able to interact, as part of a team, with all types of clients and teammates.
- Be proactive and able to manage time well often dealing with conflicting and tight timelines.
- Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Codes and Standards, CSA standards, ANSI standards, IEEE standards, Ontario Building Code, and other applicable codes.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
