Our team is responsible for innovating new process control and sensor products and technologies critically important in the production of semiconductors components and to the critical infrastructure markets. We are currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Equipment Designer to join our team.

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hourly Wage: C$38.00

Work Hours: 30~40 hours per week

What will be your responsibilities?

1. Design & Development

- Conceptualize and Design: Brainstorming and developing designs for new mechanical products, such as machines, tools, sensors, and robotics.
- Computer-assisted design (CAD) & Technical Drawings: Creating detailed technical drawings and 3D models using CAD software based on project requirements and initial concepts.
- Calculations: Performing complex calculations for factors like dimensions, tolerances, stress, and thermal analysis to ensure designs are robust and perform as expected.
- Material & Component Selection: Identifying appropriate materials and components that meet design specifications for performance, strength, and cost.

2. Testing & Analysis

- Simulations and Analysis: Conducting computer simulations and other tests to validate design concepts and predict performance.
- Prototype Development: Overseeing the creation of physical prototypes and gathering data from performance tests to identify areas for improvement.
- Performance Testing: Analyzing test results to understand how machines, components, and materials perform under various conditions.

3. Documentation & Collaboration

- Technical Documentation: Preparing detailed documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and operation manuals.
- Collaboration: Working closely with other engineers (electrical, software) to integrate mechanical systems with other technologies.

4. Manufacturing Support

- Manufacturing Supervision: Monitoring and providing support during the building and installation process to ensure designs are implemented correctly.
- Troubleshooting: Analyzing problems that arise during manufacturing or operation and recommending solutions.
- Quality Assurance: Finalizing designs and sending prints to production departments, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.

What are the requirements?

- Completion of a two-year college program in mechanical engineering technology or mechanical design and fabrication
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience with SolidWorks CAD software for the engineering design of electro-mechanical components as well as knowledge in Molding and Thermal Analysis modules in SolidWorks
- Strong experience in SLA and FDM 3D printers along with knowledge for optimizing print parameters
- Proficiency in operating and programming 5-axis CNC machinery using CAD/CAM software and Fusion360
- Proven track record for designing high accuracy PCBs enclosures with focus on component fit
- Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) for small-scale electro mechanical systems (tolerancing within 0.02mm)
- Competence in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for comprehensive review of design and procedures
- Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication skills to manage and oversee technical projects
