Business Data Analyst – Wholesale/Retail Credit Risk

Working with one of the top financial clients, this role calls for a Business Data Analyst - Wholesale/Retail Credit Risk who will be responsible for providing subject matter expertise on Wholesale/Retail Credit Risk data, data processes, and management systems while assisting in the system development and performing comprehensive testing end-to-end to ensure technology deliverables fulfill business requirement UAT testing.
Responsibilities:
1. Perform in-depth data analysis and investigation.
2. Support requirement gathering by extracting information from SAS and Python data processes.
3. Identify and document the business partners' functional and data requirements based on a business process description to ensure that the final deliverable coincides with the context of the business operations.
4. Manage and document the translation of business needs into requirements to communicate to the project team activities, resources, and deliverables necessary to meet business objectives.
5. Participate in investigations, interviews, and formal or informal requirements gathering sessions to understand stakeholder needs.
6. Recognize discrepancies between business needs and deliverables, when reviewing and validating requirements, and communicate these discrepancies to stakeholders to ensure that they understand and either accept these discrepancies or identify a need to change project direction.
7. Analyze problems for senior management change management teams and business partners in order to identify the approach and solution options for the given problem; this includes collaborating with project teams to resolve road-blocks, performing solution proof-of-concept (POC), and examining third party product offerings.
8. Provide application design and development costing estimates to senior management that are used in determining business initiative feasibility and priorities, and/or used by the Project Managers for project planning.
9. Review project documents (e.g., High Level Requirements Document [HLRD], High Level System Design Documents [HLSD], and application code) received from other Technical Specialists, Business Technical Specialists, and Project Managers to ensure quality, completeness, and adherence to Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) documentation standards, as well as identify synergies between project initiatives to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the development process.
10. Identify opportunities to strengthen the capability of change management, such as sharing expertise to promote change management, data service, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across the group.
11. Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities, and individual learning.
12. Lead new project initiatives by providing sizing and working with PM, developers, and QAs to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget.
Desired Skill Set:
1. Over 5 to 7 years of data analysis experience - working on large databases.
2. Combined BA/TSBI, UAT, and Wholesale credit risk data experience.
3. Familiar with credit risk commercial lending data, PD/LGD/EAD model data, and Commercial Financial products.
4. Strong experience with business system analysis in a complex data warehousing environment running on Netezza, IPS, and Cloud.
5. Strong experience gathering business requirements from client groups and lines of business and converting these into functional specification documents.
6. 5 to 7 years of experience using SQL statements to query data and perform data profiling and data verifications.
7. Ability to do data modeling and perform data mapping.
8. Possesses solid business knowledge in the Finance industry.
9. Experience with Netezza, SAS, Python, and Cloud AWS.
Nice to Have:
1. Experience building data warehouse environments from conception to production (full project lifecycle in Waterfall approach and Agile approach).
