We are a leading private currency exchange company, with a strong presence in the foreign exchange market. As the industry landscape evolves with emerging technologies, regulatory shifts, and increasing competition, we are looking to expand our investment scope and secure new revenue streams. To navigate these challenges and seize new opportunities, we are seeking a Business Development Officer to drive our efforts in diversifying investments, expanding business reach, and building relationships with international investors, particularly from Asia.

Role Overview:

The Business Development Officer will be a key player in identifying and securing investment opportunities, forging partnerships, and driving strategic initiatives in Asia, particularly Hong Kong. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Hong Kong business environment, and a strong network of high net-worth individuals., institutional investors, and corporate decision-makers in Asia. This role will focus on attracting investment, creating joint ventures, exploring acquisitions, and driving other business development initiatives. Additionally, the Business Development Officer will develop policies and administer programs to promote commercial investment, assess market potential, and help guide strategic decisions to support long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities:

- Research and analyze emerging market trends and develop strategies to diversify our portfolio, mitigating risks posed by current market competition and regulatory shifts. This includes exploring investments in both traditional and non-traditional sectors, such as real estate, fintech, and digital payment solutions.
- Assess commercial business opportunities in Asia and develop strategies to attract venture capital, fostering relationships with high-net-worth individuals, institutional investors, and key industry players.
- Cultivate relationships with investors to build and manage partnerships with fintech companies, digital currency platforms, payment providers, and other relevant industry leaders to enhance the company’s service offerings.
- Stay informed on global regulatory changes, particularly in the financial services and real estate sectors, and develop strategies to adapt our business operations to stay compliant while remaining competitive. Analyze the impact of these changes on investment strategies and propose adjustments as necessary.
- Develop and apply e-commerce strategies that align with the company’s expansion goals. Provide consultation on the planning and initiation of new business, with focus on leveraging emerging technologies and identifying untapped opportunities for growth.
- Work closely with senior management to structure and negotiate strategic investments, joint ventures, and acquisitions. Assist in reviewing and evaluating development proposals to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Minimum education requirement of a university diploma in business or international business
- Minimum of 9 (nine) years of proven work experience in business development, investment strategy, currency markets and/or corporate expansion.
- Experience in international business development, particularly with clients and investors from Asia.
- Excellent networking, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English; Mandarin is an asset.
- Experience working in cross-cultural and international business environments.

Work must be completed at the physical location downtown Vancouver, BC. There is no option to work remotely.
