Worker Type: EmployeeJob Post End Date: 11/28/2025**About this opportunity:**Reporting to the Senior Manager, New Ventures Exploration, the Senior Geologist will be accountable for developing grass roots exploration drilling opportunities, supporting A&D and Corporate Strategy efforts, and screening/scoping new impactful business opportunities (Company, Play, Basin, Country, and Technological assessments). This role will provide reliable subsurface asset characterization, evaluation, commercial development plans, production forecasts, and related project economics.**What you’ll do:*** Identify New Venture Exploration opportunities by quantifying risk/reward propositions, working with various teams to understand & apply appropriate costs for value determinations* Conduct mapping, subsurface model generation, and prospect generation in carbonate and clastic depositional systems* Evaluate and integrate technical data, including log and core interpretation, petrophysics, seismic, and production data to characterize subsurface opportunities* Evaluate and quantify risk and propose risk mitigation strategies* Undertake asset planning for all new opportunities and manage workflows from early exploration to asset development* Conduct well planning & drilling operations for vertical/horizontal/multi-lateral wells, estimating in-place and resource volumetrics, and understand key uncertainty parameters**Who you are:**Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:* Legally authorized to work in Canada* Minimum 8 years of experience in a successful technical role.* Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geosciences, or equivalent.* A member in good standing or eligible for registration with APEGA.* International multi-basin experience is an asset.We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.**Note: The application deadline for this position is 11:59 PM MT November 27, 2025.**Cenovus was ranked one of Canada’s Best Employers in 2025.
