Cutting Operator:

The Cutting Operator is responsible for supplying cut and drilled pieces of fabric to the production line in accordance with supplied patterns and product instructions, ensuring they are free of defects.

Summary of Duties:

1. Loads the required materials onto the cutting table using proper lifting devices and assistance as needed.
2. Identifies fabric characteristics and determines if fabric is right side up; requires basic knowledge of different fabrics.
3. Stages cut material pieces in the supermarket and appropriate product line.
4. Verifies fabric usage before cutting and ensures fabric is right side up.
5. Verifies marker positions and part numbers against manufacturing/sales orders.
6. Visually inspects fabric for defects and follows procedures to determine if the material is defective or can be re-cut.
7. Lays up fabric according to markers, ensuring correct number of layers and quantity to cut.
8. Maintains KanBan by cutting daily to meet production schedules and ensure on-time delivery.
9. Operates basic cutting equipment.
10. Completes documentation such as fabric tracking reports and records fabric usage and date; separates fabric waste for recycling and destruction programs.

Qualifications:

- 13 months to 2 years of related experience in cutting or sewing environments is an asset.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Flexible to work various shifts.
- Attention to detail and a positive attitude are essential.
- Basic math skills, including fraction recognition, using metric and standard measurements.
- Good manual dexterity for placing patterns and cutting fabric precisely.
- Teamwork skills in a modular work environment.
- Ability to operate various cutting equipment such as manual cutters, upright saws, and drills.
