The “Factory of the Future” (FOF) manufacturing team and our Molds base business is seeking motivated & skilled CAD/CAM developers interested in growing their skills in support of Husky’s mission for would class production performance. The manufacturing of mold tooling parts will offer successful candidates a challenging opportunity to be part of Husky moving towards a digital manufacturing environment. Robust CAD/CAM templates and reliable processes are the corner stone of future ‘zero-touch’ production capabilities.

The CAD/CAM Developer position is responsible for providing a wide range of post processor with CAM templates and support to manufacturing, engineering and products development. This includes selecting & validating appropriate cutting tools, developing manufacturing process plans, production with automation systems and general tooling support. Responsibilities may also include managing the procurement and risk mitigation in new capital equipment start-ups and ensuring operational excellence is aligned across all businesses. The CAD/CAM Developer is also responsible for best-in-class quality, efficiency and reliability of manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Develop new CAM templates for production parts
- CAD/CAM template adjustments and maintenance
- Design, develop and maintain Husky custom software tools
- Post processor and simulation developments
- Design fixtures and CAM templates for part families
- Install and test new software updates
- Machine subroutines/macro and probing routine developments
- Monitor and evaluate new production processes
- Mentor and support of NC-Programmers, developers and technicians
- Process documentation and communication between different departments
- Work with teammates globally to ensure alignment of manufacturing/programming processes. Develop, implement and/or improve manufacturing processes
- Specify manufacturing cycle times and set-up change over standards for manufacturing technicians
- Develop standard work for manufacturing operators
- Identify and understand trends in emerging manufacturing markets and assess new technologies for Husky’s current or future production needs
- Facilitate and align global operational continuous improvement projects, ensuring maximizing resources to meet performance objectives
- Audit processes and equipment to ensure global performance meets standards
- Support product changes and new product launches ensuring Operations are capable of meeting customer needs globally; part costs and PFMEA’s as required.

- Negotiation experience with project responsibilities, capabilities and cost
- Fluent in spoken and written English; additional language skills in German, Chinese or Japanese considered an asset
- Proficient with computers (e.g. MS-Office, MS-One Note, MS Excel);
- Experience in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, value stream mapping, error proofing, 5S, ‘7 wastes’, SMED, TPM.
- Flexible to work extended hours and weekends with short notice. Rarely required.

Education and Qualifications

- Technical education in a metal working industry or similar profession
- Knowledge of various manufacturing machines/processes and DIN/ISO G-code programming
- Basic knowledge of NC-Machine subroutines/macro development
- Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM Systems. Siemens NX and Powermill is preferred
- CAD experience required
- Software development experience using C/C++ and TCL is considered an asset. Siemens NX-Open API programming is preferred
- Basic knowledge of Machine Controllers. Fanuc and Siemens is preferred
- Basic knowledge of advanced design & manufacturing digital development methods & tools
- Computer skills: Basic knowledge of MS-Office applications
- Strong communication and people skills
- Licensed machinist or machining background is a strong asset
