Your Opportunity

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated, personable, and very organized Team Lead (TL) for our growing Site Investigation and Remediation (SIR) team, part of the Environmental Services Business Centre (BC). You will report directly to the SIR Senior Team Lead (STL) and work closely with other BC TLs and the BC Leadership team. As a TL, you will help shape the development of staff and grow our business through ongoing resource planning, recruitment, and retention.

This role can be based in one of our Stantec offices located in Alberta or the Northwest Territories.

Your Key Responsibilities

Technical Work

- Maintaining an active role on existing project work (Project management, coordination, and/or technical role), achieving a 65% utilization target

- Developing proposals and submissions to support SIR work and other multi-disciplinary work

- Adhering to client and project deadlines by completing work in a timely manner

- Reviewing and understanding Stantec technical standard operating procedures for SIR work

- Collaborating with other SIR TLs to drive new initiatives focused on improving SIR team efficiencies

- Working with STL, Technical Discipline Leads, and Technical Area Leads to identify and manage SIR areas of technical improvement

- Ensuring team members are provided technical training on SIR related tasks and tracking their training

Leadership

- Providing guidance and leadership to up to 10 SIR team members

- Actively participating and leading SIR team lead meetings

- Liaising with other TLs and project managers to resource your team with existing project work

- Communicating with sector leads, sector representatives, and project managers to resource upcoming proposals

- Monitoring and optimizing team member utilization rates based on capacity, skills, schedule, and career goals

- Providing team members with on-going performance evaluation and targeted constructive feedback

- Working with STL to establish SIR team goals that align with the Business Centre’s yearly strategic objectives and communicating the goals to your team

- Working with team members to develop ongoing career goals and achievement plans

- Completing year end performance reviews and new year goal-setting meetings with team members

- Providing recommendations for team members career level progression and billing rate changes

- Participating in the recruitment and hiring process for new staff and transfers

- Ensuring onboarding activities of new staff are planned and tracked

- Championing a Safety-First team environment focused on leading indicator measures and prompt documentation and tracking of near misses, incidents, etc.

- Collaborating with safety personnel and leadership to support mandatory training requirements of team members

- Leading and acting as a champion for recognition and rewards programs

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Environmental Sciences, or relevant technologist certificate program

Minimum 5 years of relevant environmental experience.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
