Job Description

The Clinical Support role is responsible for providing administrative support to the multidisciplinary team in a clinic/unit setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receiving patients and ensuring accurate documentation is completed
  • Serving as a communication link for the unit, answering telephone calls and forwarding messages
  • Obtaining and maintaining charts, transcribing physicians' orders, and scheduling appointments/tests
  • Performing tasks for patient care and comfort, preparing payroll information, and maintaining supplies
  • Entering patient data into applicable information systems and following HSC policy and procedures
Requirements:
  • Previous related work experience preferred
  • Current hospital-based information systems/programs; scheduling systems/programs preferred
  • High school education, Manitoba standards, and successful completion of a recognized Unit Clerk training program required
  • Medical terminology (75% pass mark) required
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Excellent command of the English language (both oral and written)
  • Ability to organize, manage time, and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, seeking assistance as necessary
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to recognize and pursue self-development opportunities
  • Ability to respond to various simultaneous demands
  • Ability to operate information technology equipment as required
