As the Fleet Equipment Manager, you will be a vital part of our mission, responsible for the strategic oversight, maintenance, and operational readiness of our national fleet and equipment inventory. You’ll ensure our resources are prepared for rapid deployment to disaster zones across Canada, enabling us to deliver hope and aid to those in need. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership, with a focus on budget management and collaborative teamwork. This position may be seconded by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association of Canada at the discretion of the Director of Canadian Ministry Projects.

The successful candidate will fulfill a full-time permanent position in our Calgary head office. This position includes benefits of life insurance, medical/dental and short-term/long-term disability, RRSP contributions after one year of employment, and 15 vacation days per year to start.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Oversees the acquisition, registration, insurance, maintenance, repair, and disposal of all fleet vehicles and equipment (including highway tractors, box trailers, dump trailers, heavy trucks, skid steers, generators, chainsaws, hand tools, and specialized disaster-response equipment).
- Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs, guaranteeing all vehicles and equipment are deployment-ready within 24 hours of a disaster call-out.
- Ensures 100% compliance with Transport Canada, provincial regulations (AB, ON, etc.), CVSA, IFTA requirements and Department of Transport (United States).
- Leads rapid deployment logistics during national disaster responses (e.g., wildfires, ice storms, floods).
- Conducts post-incident investigations and implement corrective actions in accordance with the Organizations protocols.
- Maintains accurate asset records (titles, warranties, service logs, GPS tracking) including overseeing implementation of telematics, GPS, and fleet management software.
- Supervises, mentors, and performance-manages Fleet & Equipment Specialists, conducting regular training on safety, compliance, and equipment operation.
- Creates the CDR Fleet Safety Committee with focus on staff and volunteers.
- Manages the fleet operating budget and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Fosters a culture of excellence, accountability, and Christ-centered service.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Fleet Management, Logistics, Heavy Equipment Technology, Business Administration, or related field, or a minimum of 7 years of progressive fleet management experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record managing mixed fleets (Class 1–8 vehicles, trailers, off-road equipment, small tools).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and fleet management software/inventory systems.
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License (with air brake endorsement) and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Assets:

- Certified Fleet Manager (CAFM) or Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) designation.
- Experience in disaster response, humanitarian, or emergency services.
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- High knowledge of NSC, FMCSA-equivalent standards, and cross-border permitting.
