PLC & PROCESS TECHNICIAN
AUTOMATION & ROBOTICS MANAGER
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:
Design and development of PLC and HMI programs and the start up, commission and improvement of production equipment
SCOPE:
Â
· Works independently and interdependently within various interdepartmental teams RESPONSIBILITIES/EFFORTS Â
· Supports continuous improvement projects by analyzing root causes and implement solutions to improve efficiency, safety, quality, and reliability. Â
· Complete improvements for error proofing and design function for all new and existing equipment as required Â
· Programming, commissioning, and testing of Rockwell, Siemens, and Omron PLC and HMI programs, which may include associated manufacturing equipment such as motion control, vision, RFID, scanners/readers, measurement, and instrumentation equipment. Â
· Responsible for maintaining, developing, and following company’s control standards, templates, and programming libraries. Â
· Troubleshooting/diagnosing of Process issues and perform root cause analysis Â
· Perform daily checks as required on all equipment as instructed Â
· Assist operators in the day-to-day functions of the machines Â
· Ensuring Operator settings are correct and working when a machine stops or fails Â
· Work closely with the shift Supervisor to improve process efficiency, quality, and reliability. Â
· Performs all duties as assigned in accordance with and adherence to the IATF/TS 16949 Quality System Standard Â
· Follows Policies, Procedures and Work Instructions as outlined in the Quality Systems Manual and Employee Handbook Â
· Performs all job functions in a safe and healthful manner, abiding by all health, safety, 5S and housekeeping guidelines and rules; Â
· Reports all unsafe & unhealthy conditions to Management or a member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee Â
· Performs other tasks as required 4. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE/ PREREQUISITES Â
· Post-secondary education in related field (Mechanical Engineering, skilled trade, etc.) Â
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in working as a PLC Programmer/Process Technician role in a similar Assembly/Robotic/Welding environment Â
· Proficient knowledge of PLC programming (i.e. ABB) 5. PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE Â
· Understanding of machinery safety, programming of safety devices with safety PLC Â
· Mechanical and Electrical knowledge to understand process operations Â
· Strong ability to work with hand tools to adjust dies and sensors Â
· Excellent grasp on how HMI and buttons and sensor can affect the cell Â
· Knowledge of machine guarding and safety devices Â
· Basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic circuits and devices an asset Â
· Experience with stamping presses an asset Â
· Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
