About the Role
Reporting to the President, the General Manager
- Business Operations is an experienced and practical people and process leader who knows how to listen effectively, learn from those around them, and build trust within a team. This role will work with Bauco's functional managers to create clear priorities, address performance gaps, improve overall coordination, strengthen and optimize processes, and support consistent execution across the organization. We’re an established and growing manufacturer with a strong brand, a clear core market and a strategic plan. Your expertise will help our team execute that strategic plan, strengthen day-to-day operations, and integrate new capabilities as the business continues to grow. You’re experienced and comfortable using operating and financial data to guide decisions and recommendations. The role has a company-wide scope, but it is not meant to take over every function or replace the expertise of the existing team. You will be responsible for building on what already works, helping managers become better, autonomous leaders, and reinforcing our practical structure without unnecessary bureaucracy. You create an environment where managers are more capable, confident and independent. You take pride in your team providing analyzed options and recommendations, and you know how to surface cross-functional issues early, resolve them quickly, and assign clear ownership. You nurture processes, operating measures and management routines to support reliable execution, customer commitments and overall growth. How You Lead You listen first, ask insightful questions, and prefer to learn Bauco's products, customers, processes, and operating model before recommending significant changes. You work through your managers’ expertise, coaching them to analyze problems, develop options, recommend action, and make sound decisions within their areas of responsibility. You own issues through to resolution: involve the right people, assess the trade-offs, recommend or decide within your authority, implement and follow up, and keep senior leadership appropriately informed without taking over functional work. A Day in the Life: Day-to-Day Operational Coordination Coordinate daily operations across manufacturing, sales and business development, marketing, customer service, finance, and supporting functions by working with functional managers to set priorities and resolve cross-departmental issues. Ensure significant issues are surfaced early, assigned to the right people, and carried through to a clear decision and follow-through. Help align sales and customer commitments with production capacity, supply chain constraints, inventory requirements, and delivery expectations. Leadership Team Development and Management Coach, mentor and support functional managers in becoming more capable, confident and accountable leaders. Facilitate leadership meetings that result in clear decisions, responsibilities and follow-through. Identify capability, role-clarity and organizational gaps and support appropriate development, recruitment or structural changes. Maintain visibility into progress and help managers address obstacles, missed commitments and performance gaps. Work with managers to establish meaningful operating measures and use budgets, forecasts, operating metrics, and financial information to support decisions and resource planning. Process Improvement and Growth Initiatives Work with managers and process owners to map, evaluate and improve important business processes, including bottlenecks, unclear handoffs and decision points. Develop practical improvements with the people who perform and manage the work, including identifying where systems or digital automation can improve reliability, efficiency and customer service. Prepare or review business cases and lead or support selected cross-functional initiatives, such as vendor development, new distribution capabilities, or the integration of No
