Alberta Health Services (AHS) is delivering a province-wide Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Capital Equipment Replacement Program focused on modernizing diagnostic imaging services across Alberta. With a budget of $168 million, the program is replacing and upgrading DI equipment and associated infrastructure across multiple sites. Reporting to the Program Director, Diagnostic Imaging Capital Equipment Program, the Senior Advisor plays a key role in supporting the planning, procurement, implementation, and integration of DI equipment across AHS sites. Working within a centralized program team, the role supports equipment planning and RFQs/RFPs, site readiness, vendor coordination, and system integration to ensure new technologies are delivered safely, efficiently, and with minimal disruption to clinical services. This position works closely with DI Operations and supporting teams, Acute Care Alberta, Health Shared Services, and Vendors to align equipment replacement, infrastructure upgrades, clinical workflows, and digital systems. The Senior Advisor also supports integration with platforms such as Provincial Enterprise Imaging and Connect Care, including coordination of configuration, testing, and performance validation. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically grounded professional with DI and project experience to contribute directly to the modernization of Alberta’s healthcare system and support sustainable, high-quality patient care across the province. There are three (3) positions available. The Senior Advisor supports DI equipment replacement and related initiatives by providing technical, coordination, and advisory support to the Diagnostic Imaging Capital Equipment Replacement Program. The role supports RFQs/RFPs and procurement activities, assists with the development and review of technical specifications, coordinates vendor engagement, and supports site readiness activities, including removal of existing equipment, delivery, installation planning, acceptance testing, and compliance requirements. The Senior Advisor supports schedule coordination and sequencing of equipment replacements, helping align vendor activities, site readiness, clinical operations, and grant-related milestones. Working with internal and external partners, the role supports issue identification and resolution, monitors schedule impacts, and escalates risks as required to support timely delivery. The position collaborates with DI Operations, Acute Care Alberta, Health Shared Services, Capital Management, and vendors to support alignment between equipment, infrastructure, clinical workflows, and digital systems. The Senior Advisor also supports imaging informatics activities related to connectivity, configuration coordination, testing, and documentation. The role contributes to planning, reporting, documentation, and process improvement activities as required. On-site reviews and coordination are undertaken as needed to support effective planning, execution, and delivery. Degree or diploma in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Health Technology Management, Engineering, Health Informatics, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Minimum five (5) years’ experience supporting DI, medical equipment, or clinical technology initiatives within complex healthcare environments. Experience with public-sector procurement processes, including technical specifications, RFP/RFQ evaluation, and vendor collaboration. Experience coordinating site readiness activities with Facilities, IT, and Biomedical Engineering to support smooth equipment deployment. Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clinicians, technical staff, and stakeholders. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability in dynamic environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams for coordination, tracking, and reporting. Experience supporting capital equipment replacement initiatives involving DI modalities (e.g., CT, MRI, Ultrasound, General Radiography, others). Demonstrated experience supporting schedule coordination and sequencing of equipment replacements across multiple sites. Experience identifying risks and issues, assessing impacts, and supporting timely resolution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders Awareness of capital budgets and service contracts, with the ability to support financial tracking, vendor accountability, and alignment with schedule milestones. Experience working in matrixed environments. Project Management Professional (PMP) designation or formal project management training. PROSCI certification or experience supporting change management activities in clinical or technical environments. Experience supporting projects involving construction, renovations, or infrastructure upgrades related to medical equipment installations.
