About the team:

The Distributed Data Storage and Management Lab leads research in distributed data systems, aiming to develop next-generation cloud serverless products that encompass core infrastructure and databases. This lab addresses various data challenges, including cloud-native disaggregated databases, pay-by-query user models, and optimizing low-level data transfers via RDMA. Teams within this lab create advanced cloud serverless data infrastructure and implement cutting-edge networking technologies for Huawei's global AI infrastructure.

About the job:

- Lead innovation in large-scale distributed data systems and AI + big data technologies, focusing on building industry-leading capabilities into core products and driving commercial success through concept, architecture, and technical innovation.

- Drive technological breakthroughs in distributed data systems by integrating ideas from academia, industry, and open-source communities; plan technology direction, architecture design, and key innovations.

- Implement critical technologies in main business scenarios, support creation of flagship products across domains, and explore new business opportunities and monetization models.

- Develop the ecosystem around distributed data systems, define strategies, and execute plans to build strong industry influence.

The base salary for this position ranges from $190,000 to $350,000 depending on education, experience, and demonstrated expertise.

About the ideal candidate:

- Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related fields such as Mathematics, Computer Engineering.

- 8+ years of experience in distributed systems or related fields.

- Strong system architecture and technological innovation skills, with a deep understanding of industry advancements in distributed data systems.

- Proven track record of successful projects and leadership in complex initiatives.

- Familiarity with current trends, challenges, and applications in distributed data systems and AI data infrastructure.

- Excellent strategic thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, capable of transforming technologies into competitive solutions.
