Overview
Reporting to NPH Production Manager, the Photographer is responsible for attending & providing high-level coverage of events by capturing photos of teams, players, game action & overall event atmosphere. To be considered for this role, applicants must own a DSLR camera (or similar) with an appropriate lens for sports & portrait photography and a laptop for photo editing and graphic design.
Deliverables will include Photos and online albums & Player of the Game Headshots. All Media Correspondents will work directly with the Creative Director & Production Manager in execution & rollout of content.
The Photo & Design Correspondent is expected to follow and promote our philosophy of: 1. lead yourself, 2. support your team and 3. execute tasks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Photograph game action across all courts
- Coordinate with Game Ops to capture Team Photos and Player of the Game Photos
- Uncover creative ways to cover the league, players, teams, and community
- Manage and post on social media accounts
- Grow the following & overall audience reach of select NPH social media accounts
- Participate in weekly marketing meetings, describing the department’s activities from the past week and the planned activities & goals for the upcoming week
- Analyze content performance through platform analytics, to constantly elevate engagement and growth through adjustments based on audience, aka “Listen to the community / market”
- Work closely with other departments within the company, to learn about the organization’s operation and build relationships
- Will serve as a subject matter expert in all elements related to Canadian basketball.
Qualifications and Skills
- Marketing/Media or related education is preferred
- Proficiency in Photography & Design software (Lightroom)
- Basic understanding of Sports Photography Concepts
- Ability to frame photographs creatively
- Ability to problem solve
- General understanding of basketball dynamics
- DSLR Camera or similar + Lenses
- Laptop for Photo Editing
- Possess superior understanding of the target audience
- Good understanding of digital marketing
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, and participating in multiple, complex projects across a number of brands simultaneously
- Team player with great interpersonal skills and a passion for the sport of basketball
- Available to work in-person as well as online, and to travel to various venues for event coverage as required
