Position: Heavy Equipment Technician

As our Heavy Equipment Technician, you’ll play an integral role in performing major diagnostics and major repairs and servicing all equipment in fleet with minimal supervision. You are responsible for providing the highest quality of service and complying with the company’s established policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for developing and coaching apprentices.

Responsibilities

- “Service First”. Support external and internal customers with exceptional solutions. Recognize that customers’ livelihoods depend on the service they receive from our team.
- Safety Minded. Work safely, following all safety programs and procedures – every time. Champion best practices to stay in the lines.
- Certification. Earn and apply Red Seal Heavy Equipment Technician certification to make Great West Equipment customers’ first choice.
- Critical Thinker. Collect and examine technical information, diagnose issues, understand diagnostic tools, access product information, and provide timely solutions with minimal assistance. Troubleshoot and read various system diagrams.
- Keeping Your Cool. Work under pressure while maintaining quality service. May work in remote areas or extreme weather; physical work with heavy lifting; long hours during busy cycles; overtime may be required. Take regular vacation time.
- Relationship Builder. Build rapport with customers, understand their equipment and business, and provide information and solutions to keep them running.
- Vigilance. Report customer satisfaction, trends, and leads for equipment sales to the service supervisor and sales team. Be the eyes and ears of the branch.
- Mentorship. Listen actively and perform competence analysis of apprentices. Identify development areas and provide on-the-job training.
- Organization. Maintain personal systems for organizing work, ensuring readiness with information, parts, and tooling prior to attending a site.

Experience Required

- Red Seal or Journeyperson Technician Certification
- 2-5 years related experience
- Solid knowledge of equipment systems and repairs
- Good communications skills with peers and supervisors
- Basic knowledge of computer applications
- Committed to continuous learning
- Strong technical background and ability to communicate with technicians and customers regarding parts and service
- Health & Safety Knowledge – OH&S rules and regulations

Education Required

- Heavy Equipment Technician Red Seal certification
