The Financial and Administrative Shared Services Division in Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction is responsible for the province-wide administration of the Access to Information (ATI) Act. In addition, the division delivers the ATI program for Government of Alberta departments, and some of their agencies, boards, and commissions.

The position offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic and coordinated leadership for building policy capacity for the Access to Information and King’s Printer branch. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance and enhancement of policy instruments and the development of the policy framework associated with the Access to Information Act (ATIA).
Other Key Responsibilities
- Address Issues and Opportunities Related to Access to Information.
- Represent enterprise-wide perspectives on access to information, ensuring alignment with government priorities and values.
- Develop briefing notes for Cabinet Committee Chairs, the Premier or Deputy Ministry or Executive Council.
- Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements, to ensure successful execution.
- Develop and maintain policy instruments that are meant to guide a disciplined approach to access to information. These policy instruments must continue to align with these complex, ever-changing requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (4 year program) in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, or any other related field.
- Plus a minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience related to policy development.
Equivalencies
- Two‑year diploma with a minimum six years of related experience.
- Certificate with a minimum of seven years of related experience.
- No formal education with eight years of related experience.
Assets
- Master of Public Policy or related degree.
- Experience with the public policy development process, including issue identification, research, analysis, decision making, consultation, and implementation.
- Experience interpreting legislation, regulations and/or policies including experience with Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and/or the Access to Information Act.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including clear and concise writing ability, strong listening skills, public speaking and presentation skills, and diplomacy and professionalism.
- Experience drafting briefing notes.
- Knowledge of policy development cycle in government entity or in a public sector environment.
The competition will be used to fill one (1) permanent Senior Policy Analyst role.
The successful candidate will be required to work in Edmonton, scheduled Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day for a total of 36.25 hours per week.
A remote work or hybrid arrangement is not offered.
