The Opportunity RVS invites applications for a temporary, full-time (40 hrs/wk) Building Operator I Floater Position(s) to service the Airdrie, Chestermere and Cochrane Areas (based on the needs of the division - mornings or afternoons must be flexible); starting immediately and ending June 30, 2026. Responsibilities Include Engages actively in janitorial duties, including cleaning of the school and the grounds (90% of this position is cleaning) Reports any defects, damages, or loss of school property to the Head Building Operator May coordinate cleaning duties of caretakers Ensures temperatures in the school building are maintained during the shift Checks on the proper operation of heating, plumbing, and electrical systems; reports any problems promptly to the Head Building Operator Security duties as assigned Assists the HBO in orientation and training of new employees and relief help Education/Experience High School Diploma or equivalent1-3 years’ previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a Caretaking setting3-5 years previous caretaking/cleaning experience Valid Alberta operator’s license (class 5)Valid Building Operator A or B Ticket or a 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate is considered an assetCertifications from cleaning organization is considered an assetPrevious experience within a school division is considered an assetKnowledge/SkillsWorking knowledge of proper cleaning proceduresAbility to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervisionEffective supervisory skills, including training, and delegatingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient on Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applicationsRocky View Schools Benefits 6% vacation pay As this is a temporary position, there are no benefits or sick timeRVS employees who are ineligible for employer paid benefits may access the supplemental benefits package at their own costProfessional development and training opportunitiesPre-employment Requirements In order to be selected as a candidate for an interview, candidates must submit proof of qualifications/education as required by the position.The successful candidate must submit a current Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check within 30 days of the start of your employment.Applicants must provide a professional letter of reference, attached to the job application, from their most recent supervisor, relevant to the job opportunity, written on company letterhead, signed and dated within the past 18 months or a list of updated references of a current/recent supervisor on your application.
