Key Responsibilities
1. Participate in the development of and support the company’s strategic plan and direction
2. Manage all aspects of financial accounting including preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, reporting and analysis.
3. Effectively communicate the financial performance of the company and provide financial reports to executives, senior management and external users.
4. Supervise and lead a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and professional development.
5. Manage month/year end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing and reporting.
6. Oversee and manage the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash collections, fixed assets, revenue recognition, cost of sales, budget performance, internal controls, government remittances, payments.
7. Develop and manage financial controls in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures and Best Practices.
8. Collaborate with various departments to develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial goals, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
9. Continuously evaluate and enhance financial processes, systems, and controls to optimize efficiency and accuracy.
10. Maintain positive and continuous collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Health & Safety, IT, HR, Properties, and Development.
11. Identify and mitigate financial risks, including analyzing WIP (work-in-progress) and ensuring proper control over project costs.
12. Build and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, vendors, clients, and bonding and insurance brokers to support the organization’s financial objectives.
13. Participate in special projects and initiatives assigned by senior management.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
2. Experience with Oracle Cloud is an asset
3. Minimum 5-10 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial management role (preferably in the construction industry)
4. Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills
5. High level of diligence and attention to detail
6. Ability to produce accurate reports and outputs, ensuring precision and excellence
7. Ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines and focusing on results
8. Strong, proven leadership abilities in implementing a culture of continuous improvement and positively impacting change management
9. Strong analytical and organizational skills
10. Self-motivated and self-directed
11. Proven ability to conduct oneself in a professional, positive and respectful manner
12. Strong computer skills, and strong Microsoft Office knowledge (advanced Excel)
