Compensation
$120,000 to $150,000
Job Description
As our Director of Maintenance (DOM), you will lead all aircraft maintenance operations, ensure compliance with Transport Canada regulations, and mentor a team of Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AMEs). This full‑time position averages 40 hours per week over a 52‑week cycle (more in summer, fewer in winter).
Responsibilities
- Maintenance Control & Compliance
- Manage the Maintenance Control System and keep the Maintenance Control Manual (MCM) current.
- Certify maintenance actions by signing releases and ensure all work meets airworthiness standards under CAR571.
- Oversee inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, overhauls, and modifications on aircraft systems.
- Implement Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Service Bulletins, and Service Letters.
- Maintain accurate technical records, journey logs, and life‑limited component histories.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable CARs, company policies, the Canada Labour Code, and OSH requirements.
- Quality Assurance & Safety
- Lead the Quality Assurance Program and conduct internal audits.
- Drive the Safety Management System (SMS), report service difficulties, and ensure safety issues are addressed promptly.
- Maintain a safe and organized hangar, ensuring all personnel follow safety and OSH procedures.
- Supervision & Training
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate AMEs and apprentices.
- Coordinate recency and type‑specific training for staff.
- Operations & Planning
- Liaise with flight operations to plan maintenance schedules and manage aircraft availability.
- Act as primary contact with Transport Canada and regulatory authorities.
- Manage budgets, tooling, inventory, and technical records.
- Contribute to operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Valid Transport Canada AME licence M1. Rotary‑wing experience is a plus.
- 10 years of aircraft maintenance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of CARs, the Canada Labour Code, OSH requirements, and Maintenance Control Systems.
- Proven experience serving as a Director of Maintenance.
- Experience maintaining AS350, Bell 212, R44, and EC120 helicopters; additional type experience is an asset.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
