A Day in the Life:

Production Management and Scheduling

1. Understand Metal forming and Glazing best practices.
2. Ensure work lines up with our manpower capacity and scheduled targets.
3. Attend T3 meetings to ensure production is being coordinated between departments.
4. Have constant knowledge of current orders in the shop and customer deadlines.
5. Ensure Staff are clocked into correct work orders, balance hours daily in SHOPLINK, manage overtime needs and staffing levels.
6. Responsible for Continuous improvement initiatives and reduce/eliminate Non-value add (NVA) or waste where and when possible.
7. Review on a regular basis, all drawings, process sheets, shop orders, and schedules pertaining to each station.
8. Provide production labour timing and productivity numbers upon request.
9. Participate in the interviewing, hiring and annual performance review process for shop staff.
10. Responsible for training & development of the workforce at the plant level.
11. Responsible for recruitment, disciplinary action, and terminations.
12. Review actual hours as compared to budgeted hours.
13. Review Scheduled, Capacity planning, Long Term Planning with Production Control.

Equipment Productivity

1. Ensure equipment is being utilized to its maximum productivity and efficiency levels.
2. Assist equipment operators troubleshoot errors and production difficulties.
3. Ensure high standard of 5S program.
4. Corrective & preventive actions for improvements of production system and QA/QC protocols.
5. Be responsible for pass/fail of QC concerns and 'Red Tag' sign off.

Shop Material Consumption and Stock Outs

1. Keep track of all materials on production floor to ensure no production is lost due to insufficient materials or incorrect material orders.
2. Assist Production Foreman to coordinate with our inventory and shipping teams to ensure no excess materials are being stored in the production areas.
3. Review department inventory levels weekly.

Miscellaneous Responsibilities

1. Able to review 3D drawings using Autodesk and understand shop production drawings.
2. High skill level on Excel and Bluebeam.
3. Ensuring the safety and prevention of accidents and injuries is integrated into all aspects of the occupational environment, and into every work activity overseeing the shop production process.
4. Where necessary, enforce company policies and procedures.
5. Follow up on shop Utrak Action Items to ensure completion of own items.
6. Motivate and provide training where needs are identified, while maintaining a positive and healthy work environment.
7. Liaise with Production Foreman, Production Controller and other departments daily or as required.
8. Maintaining High Level of Quality Standards by regular inspection, communication, training, and monitoring.

What You Bring:

1. 5 years experience working in a similar role and industry; experience managing a team of shop employees is a must.
2. Previous experience with CNC programming.
3. Previous experience with AutoCAD.
4. Previous experience with inventory management.
5. Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook).
6. Experience with 3D Modelling software preferred.
7. Current Forklift License is preferred.
8. Completion of a post-secondary degree/diploma in an engineering or construction field is preferred.

$80,000 - $95,000 a year
