Our network operational support teams are exposed daily to advanced and complex challenges affecting a range of geographically diverse locations including the National Capital Region, Canada, and international sites. Key deliverables of the role require the design, implementation, ongoing support, and management of all CSE enterprise network and telecommunications services including Firewalls, LAN, WAN, Optical Infrastructure, Cloud, Data Center, Wireless and Software Defined Networking. You’ll play a crucial role in designing, implementing and integrating new solutions and capabilities into CSE’s existing infrastructure.

Ottawa, Ontario. CSE has two accessible facilities. Flexible work arrangements, including telework for a portion of the work week, may be possible.

Conditions of Employment

A valid Enhanced Top Secret (ETS) security clearance is a condition of employment that must be met before an offer can be made.

Education

You must have either one of the following:

- A university degree in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to) Computer Science, Computer/Electrical/Software Engineering, Network Computing, or Network Telecommunications; or a college diploma in a field related to the position.

- An acceptable combination of education (professional certification) in a field related to the position (as above), and relevant experience.

Note: The educational program must be recognized in Canada, and you must be able to provide proof of education credentials. Students graduating within the next twelve months are eligible to apply.

Experience

Experience in designing, building, implementing, testing, integrating, troubleshooting, managing, or monitoring enterprise class networks in one or more of the following:

- Enterprise wired and wireless Networking including those utilizing L2/L3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS, VXLAN, VRF, VPN, IPSEC, MACSEC

- WAN/Optical technologies - DWDM, ROADM

- Wired and wireless Software Defined Access Networking, network fabrics, overlay and underlay networks, virtualization technologies

- Security related protocols and network access control utilizing 802.1x, endpoint profiling technologies, EAP-FAST, EAP-TLS

- DDI (DHCP, DNS, IP Address Management)

- Enterprise Application Load balancers

- Centrally managed Network Access Control (NAC)

- Software Defined Data Centre Networking

- Various Network security devices such as Enterprise firewalls, proxies, ACLs, VPN, and other security related protocols

- Private and Public Cloud Networking – cloud networking administration and security best practices, including compute, virtual networks, firewalls, network security groups, on-prem connections, CLI and automation

- IT User Support Help Desk
Applies his/her in-depth technical knowledge of a specific application, system or business process to support users who have questions or who are experiencing difficulties, errors, or system failures and to keep the IT environment functioning efficiently, effectively, and securely.

- Knowledge of IT
Possesses a generalist’s knowledge of all areas in IT, including but not limited to: Software application development, data storage systems, IT security, IT architecture, system administration, networking, and telecommunications.

- Telecommunications (Data & Voice) Networks
Knowledge and ability to implement the methods and practices governing the design, analysis, development, management and use of the hardware and software used to transfer information such as data, voice, images and

Responding to challenges with innovative solutions, products, or services by questioning conventional means, using intuition, experimentation & fresh perspectives; understanding, analyzing, synthesizing and relating complex information and abstract variables.

The level of competence demonstrated in the various assessments will be used to determine your qualifications for the UNMA-07, UNMA-08 or UNMA-09 level.

The intent of this process is to fill vacant positions at CSE. The process may also be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates which could be used to staff similar or identical positions with various tenures.

Due to the nature of CSE’s mandate certain roles may expose employees to content that is difficult to process. Mental health is a priority at CSE and if any personnel feel they require assistance to preserve their mental wellbeing, they have access to services, tools and other resources to help them in both their personal and professional lives.
