Systems Architect III

The Systems Architect III will be responsible for modernizing legacy BI and data platforms by leading migrations from on-premise SQL Server ecosystems to cloud-native Microsoft analytics solutions. This role focuses on Power BI development, SSRS/SSAS modernization, and building scalable data engineering pipelines using Azure and Microsoft Fabric technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong hands‑on experience in BI reporting, data engineering, and large‑scale migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead migration of legacy SSRS (Paginated Reports) to modern Power BI dashboards
- Design, develop, and optimize Power BI reports using DAX and Power Query
- Optimize report performance and enable efficient export of large datasets
- Build and maintain ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks
- Query, transform, and validate data throughout the migration lifecycle
- Implement DirectQuery, composite models, and aggregations to manage large data volumes
- Modernize SSAS Tabular or Multidimensional models to Microsoft Fabric semantic models
- Work with MS Fabric components including OneLake, Data Engineering, and Data Factory
- Establish CI/CD deployment pipelines for Power BI and Fabric artifacts
- Implement data governance practices including RLS, security, and data lineage
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure successful platform modernization
- Ensure reliability, scalability, and performance of BI and analytics solutions

Required Skills

- Strong experience migrating SSRS to Power BI
- 5+ years of Business Intelligence and Data Engineering experience required
- Hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Databricks
- Strong SQL skills for querying and transforming data
- Experience managing large datasets and performance tuning
- Knowledge of DirectQuery, composite models, and aggregations
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills

Preferred Skills

- Experience migrating SSAS models to Microsoft Fabric
- Hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake, Data Engineering)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for Power BI and Fabric
- Understanding of data governance, RLS, and data lineage
- Familiarity with DevOps practices in BI environments

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field
