Responsibilities:

1. In consultation with the Executive Director, plans, directs and administers the housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance programs to ensure that the facility is maintained in a sanitary, attractive, and safe condition and in compliance with relevant government legislation and standards, with due consideration of the resources available.
2. Develops and ensures effective implementation of preventive and corrective maintenance programs for the building.
3. Performs regular exterior and interior building inspections.
4. Ensures adequate staffing to meet the needs of the Facility Management Department. Hires appropriate staff to complement the team, and coaches, develops, evaluates, and appropriately deploys staff to ensure a strong, effective, and efficient team with good morale.
5. Develops and implements an effective internal budgeting, expenditure, and inventory control system for the department. Ensures efficient and responsible use of resources.
6. Participates in the development and implementation of effective risk management and quality improvement programs, including resident, staff, and building safety and data integrity.
7. Develops and updates policies and procedures for housekeeping, laundry, and maintenance and participates in the development of policies and procedures relating to fire and disaster, infection control, GHS, and occupational health and safety.
8. Researches and negotiates contracts for equipment, maintenance, housekeeping, and laundry products and supplies in conjunction with Business Development, if necessary.
9. Provides and ensures emergency response and on-call service for building maintenance, safety, and security matters.
10. As a member of the security response team, responds to and assists with security-related requests or emergency calls.
11. Conducts departmental meetings and attends other meetings as required.
12. Develops, maintains, and updates accurate inspection records and certification schedules for inspection by related authorities.
13. Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field.
14. Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

- Some standing, walking, lifting, and bending.

Working Condition:

- 24 hours emergency response and on-call service for building maintenance, safety, and security matters.
- Exposed to heat, noise, humidity, etc.
- Occasional travel using own vehicle.
