Preference location is Lacombe, location is flexible, within Alberta, dependent on the successful applicant. However, periodically may be asked to work in other AFSC branches. Travel in these circumstances will be reimbursed according to AFSC's Employee and Board of Directors Expense Policy.

Reporting to the Manager of People and Culture, the Work Experience Placement position will be part of the People and Culture Team at AFSC. The Team is primarily responsible for managing the processes and procedures associated with the Employee Life Cycle - Talent Acquisition, Onboarding, Training, Career progression, Safe work practices, and Off-boarding. We exist to manage the safe and effective use of people within the company to meet our Organizational Objectives.

This position will allow the candidate to gain exposure in many of the above processes. It will also support the team on other projects as needed.

What will you be responsible for?

1. Create a plan for your term that outlines your project, other work and goals you have.
2. Complete a project that fulfills or exceeds your educational institution's work experience requirements in alignment with AFSC's strategic goals.
3. Support other team members via workload relief and partnering with them on projects to learn from their experience.
4. Help review and write policies and procedures.
5. Help assess our HR Metrics and how they can assist business partners in decision making.
6. Help with annual process audits - driver's license report; work away agreements, etc.

2. Critical thinking and problem solving
3. Ability to produce results in a work from home environment
4. Balance and prioritization - Ability to balance multiple competing priorities in a tight timeline.
5. Interpersonal skills - Ability to work with a variety of business partners - employees and levels of management.
6. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. E.g. ability to create written materials and presentations in a style that recognizes the audience.
7. Research Skills - ability to answer a research question in a defendable way and taking a project from start to finish
8. Working on teams in a collaborative environment
9. High level of competency with MS Word, Excel, Teams
10. General software literacy and adaptability to new programs.
