Queer Yukon Society is excited to hire two **Summer Students **to support our Pride and drop-in programming this summer. These positions will be the first point of contact with the organization for many community members, and are ideal for someone with strong customer service or active listening skills, an interest in event planning or community development, and a commitment to creating a welcoming, safe community hub for all members of our community.
- Due to funding requirements, priority for these positions will be given to people ages 15 to 30 who are planning to return to school in the fall and have a working knowledge of both English and French. If you are interested in these opportunities and do not meet all the qualifications, please let us know, but we would still love to hear from you_

**OPTION ONE: Dawson Pride Assistant Coordinator,** May 1 to August 18
- make Pride happen in Dawson
- work closely with Queer Yukon staff, partner organizations and our fantastic community members
- ensure we are reaching and representing all parts of our community, including Indigenous/Two-Spirit people, Black and racialized community members, Francophones, youth, Elders, and more

**OPTION TWO: Whitehorse Drop-in Assistant Coordinator, **June 5 to September 22

This position will be primarily based out of The Cache, our community space in downtown Whitehorse, serving community members across a diverse spectrum of identities to access Queer Yukon's supports and services.
- make community members feel safe and welcome and help them access services
- support Queer Yukon's programming and plan and deliver their own events
- work as part of a team with members in Whitehorse, Dawson City and Watson Lake

**General information**

Queer Yukon Society is a community-led initiative with community centres across the Yukon that offer safer spaces, resources, supports, online and in-person programming, and community connection to 2SLGBTQIA+ Yukoners and their loved ones. We advocate for the health, well-being, and human rights of 2SLGBTQIA+ Yukoners, offer education and training to the broader community, and organize Pride celebrations across the territory.

**Wage**:$25-30/hour

**Hours**:35 hours/week (full-time)
Some evenings and weekend work will be required, with advance notice provided.

**Location**:These are primarily in-person positions. Staff will be provided with a laptop and phone to complete their work.
- A strong knowledge of or first-hand experience with the LGBTQIA2S+ community
- Experience with or commitment to anti-racist and anti-oppression work
- Strong knowledge of or experience with Yukon First Nations communities
- Experience or interest in event planning, workshop facilitation, community support work, or education
- Interest in creating safe environments for people with different experiences to interact
- Competent using computers and basic software programs
- Knowledge of English and French. Any additional language would be an asset, particularly a Yukon First Nations language, Tagalog, and/or ASL
