Job Opportunity

Our Canadian office located in Burlington, ON is seeking an in-office full-time entry level engineer in our Blast Effects section.

  • Evaluate flammability and explosion phenomena;
  • Predict blast and fragment loads;
  • Research explosions;
  • Prepare technical proposals, reports, and presentations;
Main Responsibilities

A large focus of the position will be supporting consequence- and risk-based facility siting studies (FSSs) for BakerRisk clients located in North America and supporting propane quantitative risk analyses (QRAs) for BakerRisk clients located in Ontario, Canada.

Requirements
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline is required;
  • Experience in blast/combustion is desired;
  • Prior field/lab-scale testing, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), and/or work experience in the chemical processing, petroleum refining, petrochemical or oil/gas industries is preferred;
  • A candidate for this position must be detail oriented and well organized;
Work Environment

The position is in-person (i.e., not remote). Travel is required and may be up to 50% of working days, primarily within Canada and the US; candidate must be able to secure status to work in the US for project work (e.g., on a TN Visa). Limited travel outside of North America would also be expected. Most trips would be less than 5 days. Travel to several client sites within a given month should be expected.
